ELON, N.C. – Thirteen student-athletes, representing seven institutions comprise the 2010 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) University Division All-State Baseball Team released on Friday. The seventh-annual team consists of NCAA Division I student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities. North Carolina sports information professionals submitted the nominees and NCCSIA members voted for the All-State team.
Elon led the charge by placing a total of three players on the team, the second straight year that the Southern Conference program has topped the list of honorees. The programs at Charlotte, High Point, North Carolina A&T and UNC Wilmington all had two representatives.
The 2010 team had two unanimous selections – Charlotte reliever Patrick Lawson (pictured) and High Point outfielder Nate Roberts. Elon catcher Mike Melillo and Charlotte infielder Cory Shaylor are the only players to have claimed previous All-State accolades.

 HICKORY, N.C. – The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) has just released its 2010 All-State College Division Baseball Team. Catawba and Mount Olive, who both won their respective conference tournaments and qualified for the NCAA Division II Playoffs, led the way with three players each. In all, seven institutions were represented on the all-state squad with four student-athletes repeating from last year.
Catawba finished 40-13 on the season while Mount Olive, who also won the Conference Carolinas Regular Season Championship, ended the year with a 41-11 mark. Both squads ranked nationally in several final regular season polls.
Three of the four infielders earned all-state accolades for the second straight year: Chowan sophomore Justin Bagbey (pictured) (Virgilina, Va.), UNC Pembroke senior Seth Kivett (Bear Creek, N.C.) and Catawba senior Craige Lyerly (Salisbury, N.C).

PEMBROKE, N.C. – Having served an integral part of the sports information staffs at both Northern State and Minnesota State-Mankato over the last 3-1/2 years, Colin Bonnicksen joined the UNCP athletic media relations department as assistant director on Monday, media relations director Todd Anderson announced.
Bonnicksen makes the long trek to Pembroke after serving as a graduate assistant at Northern State the last two years. While in Aberdeen, S.D., he was charged with the primary media relations duties of eight sports, including football, volleyball, women’s basketball, golf, wrestling, swimming & diving and baseball. He also served 1-1/2 years as a student intern in the athletic communications office at MSU-Mankato where he was the primary media contact for the Mavericks’ cross country and track & field programs.

Raleigh, N.C. - The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association announces their 2010 General Meeting and Workshop will take place on June 2, 2010 at Meredith College in Raleigh, N.C. The meeting will start with a general business meeting in the morning, lunch at noon followed by professional development for Sports Information Directors in the afternoon.
