NCCSIA Held 2009 Annual Meeting

2009NCCSIApanel.JPGGreensboro, N.C. – Guilford College hosted the 2009 NCCSIA Annual Meeting on June 3.  President Dave Walters called the general business meeting to order at 11 am.  The afternoon session included professional development with a media panel (pictured) that included NCCSIA President-Elect Tom Whitestone, Aaron Beard and Joedy McCreary from the Associated Press, Tom Perry from the High Point Enterprise and Kevin Connolly from WGHP-TV.

NCCSIA Announces 2009 North Carolina All-State College Division Softball Team

Blankenship_Brittany_01.jpgGREENSBORO, N.C. – Eleven student-athletes, representing seven different schools, comprise the 2009 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Softball Team released Wednesday. Pictured is Wingate's Brittany Blankenship.

The sixth-annual team consists of non-NCAA Division I student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities. North Carolina sports information professionals submitted the nominees and NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams, which consist of two starting pitchers, one catcher, four infielders, three outfielders and one designated player.

April Emory Earns CoSIDA’s 2009 College Division Rising Star Award

April_Emory11.jpgTuscaloosa, Ala. – April Emory, who recently completed her eighth year as Sports Information Director at Elizabeth City State University, has been named the recipient of the 2009 College Division Rising Star Award by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). The award is presented to a College Division member with 10 years of service or less whose work at their institution and service, dedication; energy and enthusiasm to the profession make that individual a “rising star” in sports information.

2009 NCCSIA Meeting on June 3

nccsia.jpgThe 2009 meeting of the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association will be on June 3 at the Guilford College Community Center in Greensboro.

The schedule is as follows:
10:45 a.m. – Check-in and registration
11:00 a.m. – General business meeting
12 noon – Lunch
1:00 p.m. – Professional development programming (10-15 minute presentations, followed by open discussion). Topics to include: Making good use of student help, getting the most from the shrinking media space and new technology for the SID.

North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association 2008-09 All-State Women’s Basketball Team
