San Francisco, Calif. - Bob Lowe, Greensboro College's assistant athletics director for communications, has been selected to serve on the College Sports Information Directors (CoSIDA) Board of Directors.
In the summer of 2002, Lowe helped form the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA). Since that time, NCCSIA has honored nearly 1,000 "All State" student-athletes. Lowe previously served as both the organization's treasurer and past president/special representative.
Raleigh, N.C. - The 2010 NCCSIA General Meeting was held at Meredith College on June 2, 2010. The events consisted of an Executive Board and General Meetings followed by lunch and professional development workshops. 2003 according to a recent survey. Forty five
colleges and universities in the state have had
NCCSIA all-state representatives.
GREENSBORO, N.C. – Twelve student-athletes, representing five different schools, comprise the 2010 North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) College Division All-State Softball Team released Thursday.
The seventh-annual team consists of non-NCAA Division I student-athletes from North Carolina colleges and universities. North Carolina sports information professionals submitted the nominees, and NCCSIA members voted for the all-state teams, which consist of two starting pitchers, one catcher, four infielders, three outfielders, one designated player and for the first time, a utility player.
NCAA Division II Southeast Super Regional participant Lenoir-Rhyne University placed seven students on the team. The University of North Carolina at Pembroke had two all-state picks, while NCAA Division III playoff qualifier Greensboro College, Guilford College, and Wingate University each received one selection.
Founded in 2002, NCCSIA is comprised of sports information professionals from North Carolina’s NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions for the purpose of promoting college athletics in the state. Membership is open to anyone affiliated with a college, university or conference located in North Carolina whose responsibilities include sports information.
NCCSIA selects all-state teams in the university (NCAA Division I) and college (Division II, III, NAIA, NCCAA) divisions for women’s volleyball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and women’s soccer, softball and baseball. Over 600 student-athletes have been recognized on all-state teams since 2003.
DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) announced its 13-member All-State University Division Softball Team Thursday with Southern Conference-members Elon University and the University of North Carolina Greensboro combining for seven student-athletes on the team.
North Carolina sports information professionals submitted the nominations and NCCSIA members voted for the all-state team. Teams were selected for both baseball and softball at both the college and university divisions.
The seventh-annual university team consists of 13 student-athletes, comprised of five infielders, due to a tie, three outfielders, one catcher, two pitchers, one designated player and one utility player from six different North Carolina NCAA Division I universities.
Elon, who earned their first postseason appearance in program history after claiming its first-ever conference championship, led the way with four student-athletes on the team, followed by SoCon runner-up UNC Greensboro with a trio of honorees. The Charlotte 49ers and East Carolina University each had a pair of honorees, while Gardner-Webb University and the University of North Carolina Wilmington rounded out the squad with one representative each.
